Because of their smaller size, motorcycles can be more difficult to see in comparison to traditional motor vehicles. As a result, drivers must remain vigilant due to the potential of causing serious harm to a motorcyclist. Unfortunately, a motorcycle accident in California has recently sent a man to the hospital.
According to reports, emergency workers were called to the scene of the crash just before 9:30 a.m. on a day in September. The motorcyclist was reportedly traveling east at the time of the collision. Police claim that the driver of a sports utility vehicle attempted a left turn into a shopping mall parking lot, resulting in a collision.
Reports indicate that the motorcycle came to a rest several yards away from the point of collision. Debris from the accident was reportedly scattered across the roadway. The man on the motorcycle suffered what officials described as “major injuries,” while the driver of the SUV was evaluated at the scene but reportedly uninjured.
Because of the California motorcycle accident, the injured man will likely face a long recovery requiring extensive medical treatment and missed time from work. Depending on the severity of his injuries, he could potentially require long-term rehabilitation and be unable to work in the same capacity. To help cope with the financial fallout of such an accident, he could choose to file a civil suit against the driver of the vehicle that allegedly struck him. If negligence can be proved, he could receive a monetary award that will ensure that he is able to manage his finances following his injuries.
