For most people in California, Memorial Day weekend is a time of family and gratitude for those who gave their life for their country. While people honor the holiday in different ways, at least one family will now remember the weekend for a different reason — the death of a loved one in a traffic accident. In addition to the fatality, several other people were injured.

Reports indicate that the crash involved multiple vehicles and happened just after 5:30 p.m. on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. Officials claim that three or four vehicles were involved. One woman lost her life after being transported to the hospital.

Four other people were injured in the collision, two of whom were juveniles. Two of the victims suffered serious injuries. Many of the details of the accident are unclear at this time, including the cause of it. However, officials have stated that they believe alcohol or drugs were factors. The accident resulted in a road closure that allowed police officers to investigate the crash.

Unfortunately, injuries suffered in a traffic accident can have both physical and financial implications. Often victims face significant hardship if they are forced to miss work in combination with the medical bills that can quickly pile up. Those who lose a loved one in such an incident often struggle with funeral expenses. Once the investigation is complete, the victims of this California crash may choose to file a personal injury lawsuit against the parties deemed responsible. A successfully presented case could result in a financial award that can help them cope with the financial ramifications of their loss.
