During this time of year, many people in California and across the country are looking forward to or participating in holiday traditions with their families. While this tends to be a time of year devoted to spending time together, one family is instead planning a funeral after a loved one was the victim of a fatal accident. Another driver has since been arrested in connection to the accident that resulted in the fatality.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on a day in early December. According to reports, a 25-year-old male was driving a pickup truck on a California roadway. Unfortunately, his truck is said to have slammed into the rear of a compact car, pushing it into the rear of a second vehicle.
Reports indicate that the compact car burst into flames. Witnesses are said to have attempted to break the windows of the vehicle but were unable to do so as the vehicle was quickly engulfed in flames. That driver unfortunately died as a result of the accident. The driver of the pickup truck was taken into custody, suspected of driving while under the influence of drugs and vehicular manslaughter.
The unexpected loss of a loved one is never an easy event; however, when it occurs close to the holidays as a result of a preventable accident, it can seem even more devastating. Unfortunately, the financial implications of a fatal accident can also take a significant toll. As a result, many people in California who have lost a loved one as a result of another person’s negligence choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit. If successfully presented, they could receive a financial award that will help them cope with the financial consequences of their loss, allowing them to focus on their overall recovery rather than how they will pay their bills.
