When driving in heavy traffic or during poor weather conditions, both drivers and passengers may start having concerns about their overall safety. However, most people in California likely feel relatively safe while at a stop. Unfortunately, a recent crash in California — that could potentially result in a wrongful death lawsuit — likely has many motorists questioning their safety at all times.
The incident happened one afternoon on a day in late June. According to reports, the driver of a pickup truck failed to stop in time for stopped traffic. As a result, the truck reportedly struck the rear of a sedan, pushing it into two other vehicles. All lanes of eastbound traffic were blocked as a result of the collision.
Paramedics struggled to save the life of an 80-year-old male passenger in the sedan, but he ultimately passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the collision. The driver of the sedan suffered major injuries and was transported to the hospital by helicopter. No other serious injuries were reported in the collision.
Unfortunately, one family is left coping with the unexpected and preventable death of their loved one. Because many families in California are unable to handle the funeral costs and other financial ramifications of an accident like this, some choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit if their loss came as a result of another’s negligence. If they can prove such claims, they could receive an award of damages that will help them better manage the aftermath of their tragic loss.
