Drivers in California and across the country often face multiple hazards as they drive. Even what appears to be a day with high visibility and low traffic can ultimately turn tragic. As a result, all drivers must remain vigilant at all times to ensure that their actions do not cause harm to others. Unfortunately, a recent motorcycle accident has resulted in a man’s death.
The incident happened one afternoon on a day in mid-May. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 32-year-old victim was riding a motorcycle at approximately 30 mph. Reports claim that a driver attempting to turn left turned into his path.
Though the motorcyclist is said to have tried to avoid a collision, the motorcycle turned over. The motorcyclist struck the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the sedan is said to have remained at the scene and cooperated with police. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been a factor in the crash, and no arrests were made.
Even if no criminal charges are filed against the California driver that police say caused the motorcycle accident, the surviving family members of the deceased man have options to seek justice. For example, often when a loss occurs as the result of another’s negligence, a wrongful death lawsuit is filed. If successfully presented, those filing the lawsuit could receive a financial award that will leave them better able to cope with the financial ramifications of their loss. While such an outcome will likely do little to reduce their grief, it can ensure that they are able to focus on their recovery rather than their ability to pay their bills.
